Chapter 6 - Gen 5 - Mason

I'm in France and I am in a tomb- the door has closed behind me and there is no way back, the only way I could go was forward, I had been left no choice which made me pretty nervous!!!!

There were piles of rocks everywhere that needed to be cleared, some hid precious gems, some switches to doorways and staircases.

I kept checking my map nervously, there had to be something under that pile of rocks, other than the keystone I could not see anything that looked like there might be a way out of here.

This pile of rocks when cleared revealed a secret dorway, I guessed because of the doormat shaped stone on the floor that sort of hinted that there should be a doorway there.

mmmm Finding a skeleton lying on the floor - that really does not make me feel very comfortable!!!!

I had to pull a statue across the room to place over a floor switch that needed wieghting down.  This snapped the chains so that I could go through the doorway.

I never even dreamt that in these holes in the walls there was ever going to be anything else in them other than a switch.  But I was very wrong!!  I put my hand into this one, all of a sudden I could feel hundreds of  feet  crawling over my hand and arm.

Bugs removed and finally I did find the switch in the hole on the second attempt.  Pulling it revealed a hidden floor tile with foot prints on it.  Standing on the floor tile opened up a staircase.

Another skeleton made me shudder.  I noticed a note scratched into stone on the wall.  Great - he could not find a way out and so he has died here - this really is not looking very good!!!  The skeleton was lay next to a tent erected in the tomb, thiis must have been where he lived until he died of starvation.

Behind the tent I found a hole in the floor and was pretty shocked to pull out dried food.  If he could not even find this hole right under his nose, its no wander his days ended here!!!!

Food reminded me I was thirsty, its just a good job I have a supply of plasma fruit to keep me going till I can find a way out of this tomb.

Making use of the tent too would not be such a bad idea - so I slept until I was fully rested before I carried on with my adventure.  Not a nice thought sleeping in a dead man's tent but unless I wanted to end up with the same fate it had to be done!!

Amazing a maze!!  On another day I might have been quite excited about finding a maze, but not today, it was not fun it was irritating, how many miles am I going to have to walk backwards and forwards just to find a way forward and past the maze??

I was at it for what seemed like hours, weaving my way round the maze, picking up loot as I was going round, finally I managed to find something of interest that might help me get out of here.  A doormat like slab of stone, indicates that maybe there should be a door way here, feeling around I soon got the secret door opened behind it a small room.

This only revealed a small room - there was no way out this way, but there was a treasure chest with quite a few valuable items in it.

Further along I spotted another doorway that was chained and after moving around a statue to place over a floorswitch that needed weighting down, the chains snapped and I could go through the door into quite a large room - it was here that I found what Margot had sent me down here to find.

Margot's item was in a hole in the floor - I just hope there are no bugs in there with it!!!

A baseball - all this for a baseball!!!!
If I had known I would have just bought her a new one!!!
To my relief from here it was pretty easy to get out of the tomb, one more floor switch and a flight of stairs and I was back into the land of the living again - I have never been so happy to see sunlight!!

I delivered the baseball to Margot but made a swift exit back to base camp because I have a confession to make - while I was in the tomb, I peed myself!!  How embarrassing but what else could I do, there was no toilet and I really could not hold it any longer.   I bet I stunk!!

I took a short nap just to get myself back to normal, when I woke up I realised that I had less than 6 hours before my flight home, no time left really to do anything other than hang around in base camp until my holiday was over.

I read a book to pass the time away.

And played the guitar for a while until I was ready to leave for the airport and the plane ride home.

 Home Sweet Home
As much as I had enjoyed France I was still glad to be home!!

Doing the interviews and article on Lifestyles in Foreign Locations got me an instant promotion when I got back to work  I am now an Investigative Reporter.

  1. I just adore Mason. He's so calm and interesting. Nice France trip, I've done that baseball finding quest like 3 or 4 times lol. Stupid baseball! :)

  2. LOL that he peed himself in the tombs! Of course, if I had those kind of bugs crawling all over my arm, I might pee myself too. :)
