Walking out of the hospital in the early hours of the mornning
in total shock - we really never thought that this would happen!!!!!
Even though there is a lot of history of sets of twins in our family I never even considered that we would have a multiple birth and we are definitely not prepared for it!!!
Scarlet carefully carries the baby carrier into the car - neither of us even know what to say at the moment, we are both worrying about how we are going to get through the immediate future
First came Natasha
she is Artistic and Virtuoso
Then came Naomi
She is Friendly and Neurotic
Finally came Nicole
She is an Excitable Genius
Three little bundles of "joy"
I said there was a history of twins, but we had to go one better and have three!!
Well you can safely say we got the girl we wanted!!!
From then on this is where we spent most of our time - stood in front of the three cots. The first day and night that they were home I think the only time either of us moved away was to sort out Nial, drink plasma and use the toilet. I had to go to work tomorrow on no sleep and Scarlet would never cope with this on her own!!!
I phoned up work and asked for some unpaid time off - when I explained the reason they were quite understanding and my time off was approved.
This was a mirracle and happened rarely - all three girls sleeping at the same time.
We soon got ourself into a routine where one of us was sleeping while the other was on baby watch and it got tot he point when we and scarlet were spending our only time together stood at the cots and we were sleeping in differnet time zones - but we did manage to sleep. Catching a nap on the couch was a bonus!!
But even though we were managing to get some sleep - we were always exhausted by the end of our baby shift!! We did not just have the girls remember Nial needed our attention too!! I don't think Scarlet will be nagging me for another baby in the near future!!!!
Nial was pretty good throught the girls baby years - thankfully we had managed to get him walking and talking and potty trained before the girls arrived - and he was hardly any trouble, but he did get a little jealous from time to time!!
It was such a relief when the girls birthday arrived.
Natasha
surprised me with Dads hair and eye colouring
and out of the three girls she was the one with the darker skin colouring.
NICOLE
has my hair and my mom's white eyes
NAOMI
an identical copy of Nicole!!!
Naomi's skin is probably a little paler than Nicoles but only slightly - they are virtually impossible to tell apart!!
Life definately became a lot easier with four toddlers to look after!!
Nicole we dressed in all green and Naomi we dressed in all purple - the colour of their clothes being the only way we could tell which one was which!!
Life had been all about the babies and now that things had calmed down a little, we did manage to sneak in the odd moment for us, but it was only the odd moment because they were still very demanding.
lots of skill building to do still meant we did not have too much time for each other.
The house was a wreck - look past all the toys scattered everywhere and all you can see is filth and mess!!!! We have both been so busy with our four children that even Scarlet has not had time to do the usually housework!! Laundry lying everywhere, heaving laundry baskets, plasma cartons, the baths toilets and showers all need a good scrub - and then there is the mounds of papers I trip over everytime I go outside!! We can not cope with the kids and the house - maybe I should get us some help!!
I hired us a maid to come in every day. Scarlet was none too please, but it had to be done!! When I return to work things are going to get a whole lot more difficult for Scarlet - she is dreaming if she thinks she will be able to cope with all this alone!!!
Oh boy have we made a mistake!!!!
It had been so long so we had any us time - that when we did finally get some, we were too busy enjoying it to be paying proper attention to what we were doing!!! We were not very careful!!!
When Scarlet started to throw up at regular interval - we knew what we had done!!!!
Created ourselves a whole new problem - another pregnancy!!
How could we have been so stupid!!
Please let it just be one this time!!!!!!
Nial had his birthday and he gained the bookworm trait
I can somehow see him becoming a writer. As soon as he had his birthday he jumped straight onto the computer joined the book club then mastered his writing skill, before he even thought to speak to either me or Scarlet - Happy Birthday son!!!!!
He loved his new bedroom. His favourite colour is brown - so we did our best with it, my old little black and white room was redecorated for him.
His first day at school today - how quickly they grow up!!!!!
